Heartstart Thatcham organised a quiz evening which took place on Friday 8th November 2013. The evening was organised to raise funds, half of which will go to the Cardiac Care Unit at Royal Berkshire Hospital, which one of our team has recently experienced first hand, and to Heartstart Thatcham.
Around 70 people attended the quiz evening, which was kindly hosted by the Wessex Club. Participants took part in ten rounds covering medicine, history and general knowledge. A ploughman’s supper was included, again supplied by the Wessex Club, part way through the evening and a raffle at the end of the evening. All enjoyed themselves, many coming to support Heartstart Thatcham, others because they have friends and/or relatives with heart conditions.

Heartstart Thatcham are continuously raising funds in order to allow them to keep delivering courses on Emergency Life Support (ELS) Skills, such as CPR and the recovery position, for free to the public. The funds raised cover hall hire and maintenance of equipment. The team are also looking at introducing basic Automated External Defibrillator (AED) training in 2014, for which some of the funds raised will go towards.
